So anyhow, I figured that I ought to put something up, starting with the OLD stuff. This is something I threw together for the LiveJournal community "15 Minute Ficlets." Um, I wrote it when my brain was dead and I wanted it to be alive again. What they do is give you a word (this one was "routine") and you write for fifteen minutes. I don't write fast, as you can probably see. xD

Characters are original, yes-yes. They (or just Kyrillos, actually) are a few of the newer ones from a role-playing game (Alanor) that I've played at for the past four years. The link's in my profile. I know. Shameless plugging -- that's me.

A shuffling of feet sounded at the door. It was followed closely by a tentative knock and a pair of emerald-green eyes that peered curiously at Kyrillos, who snapped immediately to attention, his own eyes crinkling at the edges and his irate scowl softening into a smile. “Isabel! Come in, come in.” He gestured at an old, well-worn sofa that stood in the corner next to his desk. “Have a seat.”

There was a brief hesitation, and then the girl dove onto the sofa, turning her face toward him with a shy grin. “Uncle Kyr said that he’d read me a story when he finished working.”

“And he will, Kyrillos replied, laughing quietly. “When he finishes working.” When Isabel wrinkled her nose at him, he glanced down at his papers pointedly, making a few marks before capping his pen and setting it aside.

“And now,” he said, hoisting the small girl over his shoulder, “you’ll have to tell me what you want me to read to you.”

Saturday routine, interrupted again. He only wished that he minded more.
